Something Better

Life isn’t always a montage of unicorns, cherries, rainbows, and pure utter happiness every second of the day. Life isn’t that at all. Let’s be honest here for a moment, for most of us (who are college students, leaders, or even mothers and caretakers) it is tired eyes, and lonely nights, with deep thoughts surrounding our minds wondering what life is going to throw at us next, or if we are going to get through what we are going through. The thought of what will happen tomorrow? or will I even make it to tomorrow? An uproar of incessant thoughts.

It is the day -to- day push and shove- trying- to get -through- the world- one- piece -at- a time- kind- of- life. At least that is exactly how I have felt lately (and maybe I’m not the only one who feels this way). Thoughts of feeling disappointed because your plans fell through, and certain things you expected to go well, didn’t go as planned. . This probably sounds like an attention grabber but it’s not. This post is to help someone, to show that you, I, he, she, they, WE are not alone.

Perhaps you don’t believe what I believe? but just know you are not alone. Although you may feel like the weight of the world is crushing you, and you can’t bear to breathe anymore because it’s just “too much” for you to handle, hold on tight, and keep breathing. Take life by the shoulders and firmly grasp it, after all, it is your life. Don’t let it try and control you. You control the life you are given, but God controls the life you have. Don’t forget that what we think, and what we have planned out is merely inferior to what God has for us. Stop settling, stop letting go of yourself, and run towards the open arms of our Father. A bad day is just a bad day, but it is not a bad life. Everything is not going to be like you pictured, so don’t be afraid to step into God’s picture that he has for you.

Maybe you’re like me, still not quite up to being behind the bat. Not ready to take the first hit. But it’s time. You don’t call the shots, God does. Just swing and let go. What are you waiting for? So you hit a few strikes, but that doesn’t stop the plan God has for you. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, and giving my life to Jesus was not one of them. It is never too late to run to the call that God has for you. Maybe it is something that you never saw yourself doing. Maybe the time is now. Maybe you are scared like me, afraid to take the next step towards fulfilling your call. Maybe you are tired, and weary, and have felt the failure too long. Maybe now is your time to succeed. Maybe what you thought you were called to do isn’t what God has called you to do. Maybe, just maybe he’s got something better for you. Trust in His own understanding, not yours.

Tomorrow is a new day, and it is never too late to surrender your whole heart, soul, and mind to the one who loves you more than the sun, than the stars, than the skies than anything greater or more precise in this world. The one who chose you, the one who calls you one of His own, and has called you to be a part of His bigger plan than the plan you thought you had for yourself. Stop focusing on your plans, and focus on His because if you are like me, you’d know for sure that what God has for my future, is far beyond what I can see. But we must learn to trust in His plans and keep on praying. Don’t give up, keep believing, and hang on tight to your faith. There is going to come a time where you’ll be tested, and when that time comes stay strong, and don’t turn away. Acknowledge his tests, and you shall be blessed.

Here are some scriptures to help you understand The Lords plans:

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11

“Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.” Psalm 147:5

My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth , so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts.” -Isaiah 55:8:9

-Love and blessings, Jenny
